Morning Routine
Today is Friday, January 8th, 2021.
We have had 71 days of Grade 1! Find a spot on the floor and patty cake count all the way up to 71.
Math
Activity 1: Counting Warm- Ups
1. Watch the following videos and sing along! 2. Check in with your kiddo to see how independently they can skip count by 2's, 5's and 10's. 3. Build your popsicle stick puzzles.
Activity 1: Place Value Practice
Watch the video and complete the bright green place value practice sheets that I have included in your "at home learning" package.
Please load a photo of your child's Place Value sheets to their profile on Class Dojo.
Activity 2: The Place Value Path
Play the bright green Place Value Path game which was included in your "at home learning" package. You can use your dry erase marker to "x" out numbers on the board.
"Numbers Up to 50"- please have your child complete this as independently as possible!
Activity 4: Number Order Game
Use a page in your writing journal to record your answers!
Extension Activity:
Practice writing your number words by using the green tracing mat and your dry erase marker!
Language Arts
Activity 1: Sight Words - scavenger hunt
Have a family member spread your Sight words around a room. Find them! As you find each word, print it in your writing journal.
Please take a photo of your child's printed sight words and load a photo to Class Dojo.
Activity 2: Word Families
Today we are going to review the vowel sound short "u". Please complete the green word work activities that I have provided you with in your at home learning package!
1. You will complete a cut and paste activity to review the short "u" word families. 2. You will complete Whooo's Words to review short "u" words and our new sight words!
Activity 3: Reading A-Z
1. Please visit www.kidsa-z.com and log into your child's account, using the sign in information that I provided you with prior to the Winter break. If you are having any trouble logging in or navigating this website, please let me know :)
2. 2. Please have your child choose 1-2 books under their "assignments" to read as independently as possible. They may choose to "listen" to the book, if they need. Encourage them to track the words with their fingers. Encourage them to try and decode unknown words by sounding them out/stretching them out ( c-a-a-a-t), looking at the beginning sound of the word, or even using the illustrations of the book for clues!
3. Please have your child complete the comprehension "quiz" as independently as possible. They can choose to listen to the questions by clicking on the speaker button.
Extension Activities:
1. Visit www.getepic.com and choose a book to read on your own or with someone at home! You will use the login information that I have posted on your student profile on Class Dojo. This login will only work during school hours 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
2. Practice reading our list of sight words that we have been working on from the beginning of Grade 1. You could choose one or two colours/columns to review each day.
